Using QuietCar
QuietCar may be applied with a brush, roller, airless spray gun, or air gun. To use a compressor, purchase the QuietCar Air spray gun. It has been designed specifically to handle the application of QuietCar.
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN NOISE ABSORPTION WHETHER YOU USE BRUSH, ROLLER, OR SPRAY. You should use whatever method or methods you are most comfortable with.
Depending on the level of noise reduction you want to obtain, the entire process can be as quick as 20 minutes, or take as long as a couple days (if you have chosen to disassemble the vehicle interior).
QuietCar can be used where temperatures do not generally exceed 275F. It can be used in the engine compartment, but not the engine itself, the oil pan, the exhaust manifold or the exhaust pipe due to the high temperatures reached.
It is important to follow the application instructions in the application notes.
For best results, QuietCar should be applied in 3 separate coats, with typical thickness per layer about 1mm (0.040”) -- so 3 layers may be 0.100” to 0.120” thick in total. Make sure each coat dries before applying the next coat.
Our goal is to make sure you have enough information to be successful the first time... and every time. QuietCar is very easy to apply to virtually any surface and dries tack-free in a few hours. The most important aspect of QuietCar is the more you use, on more surfaces, the more noise and vibration it will absorb. So be sure to apply it liberally in as many places as you can get to. Unlike mats, QuietCar can easily be applied to the exterior (underside) of the vehicle. And in fact, significant reduction in road noise can be achieved just with application to wheel wells, for example.
